Skittles, Rolo Candies, marshmallows and a clear mason jar

Instructions

Here’s how to make your own DIY pot of gold rainbow jars.

1. clean the jars

First, wash the mason jars with warm soapy water. Then, rinse and dry them out. This is super important because you (or someone else) will probably be eating the candy right out of the jar.

2. Sort the Skittles by color

You don’t have to but sorting the Skittles into color groups will make these rainbow jars a little easier.

This is also a really perfect time to let your preschooler or toddler help you. Let them sort the candy by color – it teaches them fine motor skills and color recognition.

3. add the rolos to the jar

Add a handful of wrapped Rolo chocolates to the bottom of the jars to act as the gold at the end of a rainbow.

To make these Pot of Gold Rainbow Jars all you need is some candy and a mason jar.

4. Add the marshmallows to the jar

Add a handful of miniature marshmallows on top of the wrapped Rolos to act as the clouds at the end of a rainbow.

5. Layer the skittles

If you sorted the Skittles into color groups, this step will be really easy. If not you can pick through the skittles to find the colors you need like I did.

Green will be on top of the marshmallows, then yellow, orange and red.

Layer the Skittles in the mason jars to create a rainbow.

That’s it! Put the lid back on top and it’s completely finished. You can add these free St. Patrick’s Day printable gift tags to the jars as a fun finishing touch!
