I was introduced to the idea of homemade infused honey when fellow blogger Lynn from Nourish and Nestle shared an amazing gift idea for “Galentine’s Day” of Rose Petals and Green Tea with Rose Hip Infused Honey. You can read all about it here.

How to Make Lemon infused honey

Doesn’t that Rose Petals and Green Tea sound amazing? Well, it is! And that is exactly what got me to thinking – “What else can I infuse in honey?” Truth be told – your options are limited only to your imagination and taste buds!

What you need:

Kitchen Tools Needed:

Ingredients Needed:

These are the ingredients you’ll need. All the exact amounts are in the printable card at the bottom of this post.

  • honey (plain honey like Sue Bee Honey works best)
  • lemons

Instructions:

1. Slowly warm the honey

Pour honey into a saucepan and add the grated lemon peel and lemon juice. Stir to combine. Heat over low heat for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally to incorporate the lemon into the honey.

Be sure to keep an eye on your honey as it will burn easily.

2. Let cool

After about 10 minutes, remove the honey mixture from the heat and allow to cool for at least 3 hours (overnight for best results).

3. Fill jar

Then pour the honey mixture into your clean glass Weck jars (or your preferred glass gift jars) and seal. You can also strain the honey, if you prefer, and then pour into your glass jar.
